yes they are proned to taking in water..in the plug on the back of the camera it will be a 2pin plus the coaxial, as you said you will need to solder new connectors on to the cable unless you get a second hand LR camera, they do come up on ebay. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Hello twhincup, The camera was cheap from flebay and im quite supprised its still working to be honest, picture is of good quality aswell as day and night with its night vision led lights. As to the gvif interface its not that differcult to install, the only issue i had was sourcing a live feed which i got from the rear fuse box. Range rover td6 54 reg touch screen |

we have manged to find some conversions from the range rover leads (gold bullet) to the yellow AV lead, and snipped the wires (red black) and used connectors to power up to the exsiting lead, but the picture is distorted?????? John Wood |

The micro coax is a bit of a chore have to go to rapid online and buy an SMB crimp tool and some crimps for rg174 or rg316 and re make the connector.

well after much head scratching today over why we couldnt get the new NTSC camera to work on the existing power leads, we finally figured it out. we had previously has the PAL version working but with a distorted picture. luckily we have CCTV cameras at the warehouse here, so we pinched a power supply off one and used it to test the camera. worked fine. turns out the PAL camera had blown the fuse in the rear fuse box. new one of them and the picture came up crystal clear!!!

ah yeh similar to the one we made up, ours has a standard yello AV socket on it and plugs directly under the spoiler into the old camera socket, not the screen. John Wood |

Hi there, I'm new to this forum but I'm a member of another. This is my second rangy, the previous one being a 3.5 V8 classic a few years ago. I also had a V8 Disco 2 in between. I too an having issues with my reversing camera and would like to know if there are any issues with swapping it for a generic one. I plan to pick up the 12v power from the original camera supply and connect the video cable to the original one also, either by fitting a SMB connector to the video lead (awkward to say the least unless you know what you are doing) or by getting a patch lead from one of the members on here. My worry is that as the OE camera incorporates a PCB, will it cause any issues or malfunctions fitting one without. I would hate to the screen or the infotainment system. Thanks in advance for any input. |
