Details of L405 in Autocar

Details of new Range Rover L405 in Autocar this week including realistic drawing.
Apparently LR decided to round off the edges of the classic L322 design instead of going for an Evoque styling... good!

Yes, a great relief compared to some of those other impressions. Looks great. Not sure what sized wheels will be needed though to fill the wheel arches. Loving the possible performance of V8 diesel. Also loving the near iPad sized central display unit.

Autocar seem to imply that it's available in 2013 though I believe it's going to appear at the Paris Salon. Hoping for mine in March 2013.

And I bet Bentley are a bit concerned about the look of their proposal. They were getting a lot of grief as it was. Now they know the competition! Hopefully this is the start of more and more appearances in the press from now on.

Pretty much, but Autocar have it without the camouflage and some snatched interior shots.

Yes, a Range Rover-shaped bar of soap after two weeks on the sink. Lost its dignity.

Those weird vent/ripple things down the front edge of the door are also on the Autocar render, they surely can't be a styling feature.

It's basically the car above reversed and coloured in blue.

The bit's inside are a good read too, especially the DC100 family which has been so well received that the shape/ form may appear on a sub-Freelander lifestyle car with the Evoque's floorpan. Disappointed that all the other Land Rovers (as opposed to Range Rovers) look distinctly like DC100's and the two new RRS's (5 and 7 seater versions) look like small L405's........... I know it's all Autocar guesswork though.

BTW somebody commented in another post that the steering wheel looked like an Evoques with a Range Rover badge stuck on instead of an Evoque badge - the badge on the Evoque's steering wheel (on mine anyway) says Range Rover, not Range Rover Evoque or just Evoque on the badge 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

You say that this is Autocar's guess regarding future product plans but to be honest it's more likely an 'on the record' 'off the record' briefing by LR PR team. It's a way to keep customers keen and to generate an Apple type anticipation. If you're in the market for a 7 seater X5 you may reconsider your next purchase in 3 years time if you know a 7 seater RRS is on its way. There's no guessing in this story. It's the latest thinking but exciting as its a 'scoop'!
