Off Road Day Out [salisbury plain july 2012]

Hi fellow FFRR owners.

As a regular green-laner,once a month in my modified Freelander, I noticed that one or two of you were asking about a Salisbury Plain outing. I have asked our group navigator if he would be prepared to sort out a non-scratchy FFRR route for a day out in Wiltshire. He is happy to participate so now it would help to see how many of you would like a day out?

We would intend to have the first day out during one of the summer months (June/July/Aug)so that there is plenty of time during the day to drive, drink tea and talk FFRR etc. Anyone driving from further afield would have the benefit of driving in daylight. Summer will also mean dusty cars but not necessarily loads of mud ( hate trying to detail the engine bay). Subsequently if anyone wanted to repeat the route in the murky muddy months then we could arrange that.

Let me know.

good idea nick...the trip last april was much better than the december one mainly because of the weather..in april we stopped more and for longer and enjoyed the sun so your summer months suggestion is a good one...

one point tho, the rangers are only happy to let convoys of about 6/7 cars go on the routes thats why we were split into smaller 5/6 cars on the december trip..could be a problem if loads want to come, mind you loads said they would come last april but they dropped out one by one..

if i can help in any way please let me know.... ... - .- -.

Hi Stan,

You make a valid point about numbers, it depends on the which side of bed the warden got out of that morning. Hence this post to try and start to get a feel for the numbers interested.

I think we would try and make the route such that we could produce a road book for a "2nd" leader who could take excess numbers to start at the mid-point and planning to meet up for lunch.

I'll note your kind offer of help, especially as you are located in Wilts.

It would seem that when you try the sign in we are only open to moderators coming along! Going to be a bit lonely! Is there a fix needed?

Sounds cool... Im up for it!

Just a quick thought, i went again with a couple of the Disco3 forum members a few weeks after our original trip and we passed a couple of groups (Jeep owners club and another Land Rover club) both with 15+ cars in each...

Craig Thumbs Up
