Hawkeye or other ?

I'm looking at buying a good diagnostic tool - after searching on here Thumbs Up and various other sites, the Hawkeye seems to come out a nice all rounder, capable of most jobs, if not quite all...

Before I splash out and buy one - has anyone a better suggestion Wink

What I need is something that -

Is not Locked to a single VIN Code

Is expandable to other Land Rover models.

Is future proof (as much as any electronic item can be)

Thanks.

depends on what kind of funds you have available ..the faultmate can be brought with a multi license but its very expensive... ... - .- -.

Would you say the Faultmate was better?

i honestly dont know , it seems to 'do' the whole lot and the support seems ok..might be worth going on their forum and see whats what..

edit..there are a couple of users on the d3 forum , bodsy and wiggs... they have faultmates so it might be worth pm'ing them for their opinions.. ... - .- -.

I have a Hawkeye & have recently had it upgraded for free by Bearmach to software v5.

It has both D3 & FFRR unlock codes & is not tied to any VIN.

All I have used it for (so far!) is FBH & EPB diagnostics & it has worked well there. I also carry it with me when looking at my next one as I find it good to show the owner what lies beneath as it were Wink

No complaints then but I can't turn lights pink or sat nav on the move etc etc like the Faultmate can. If you're after a competent diagnostic machine, infinately upgradeable to any current LR model then this is your man!

V happy to show you it working but it's a bit of a trek down to Kent! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The IIDTool will be available in a garage version with no VIN lock. Costs will be similar to the Hawkeye with all necessary cables, codes and adapters.

We are planning an update in the coming weeks. You won't be able to turn your nav pink, but you will be able to edit numerous items in the CCF.

And you can calibrate your EAS.

If you are interested, wemay be able to work that into our beta program. Please PM me.

Thanks Steve..

I'm looking for something that will also be capable of covering D2, Defender and Freelander 2

Unfortunately I don't think you do this - But please correct me if I'm wrong.
