you need 255/50/20 tyres these are the std FFRR size and the same rolling radius as 255/60/18's your speedo will read correct.

Nothing should rub and the speedo shouldn't read incorrectly. Provided you use the correct size tyres. 20" wheels should have 50 profile tyres. 19" - 55. 18" - 60 etc. that way you maintain the same rolling diameter.

As above, but wasn't there also something about a rubber steering damper to reduce stress on the rack? |

there were vibration issues on a TD6 with your foot on the brake pedal and the car in drive when waiting at the lights. The solution is to just to take it out of drive. |

265/50 and 275/50 will also fit and give you a little more cushion than the standard 255/50. they'll also fit without rubbing.

Taken the first to be refurbished, i try and get the daughter to put some pictures on when i get it back. Have been quoted £40 to refurb.

I changed from 19" to 20" TBH I can't tell the difference other than the 20" look way better. i think off road it might be better to take off the nice wheels to avoid damage from rocks and such. However, what do I know?, off road is a place I've never been or intend to go Geoff |

I'm no expert but is there a risk of winding up the transmission with unequally worn tyres on front and rear axles, where the circumference will be different? |

Fisha and Carman. Thank you for that. something to consider when i purchase the tyres. Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty,nothing else matters.

Thinking about it.... one of the things I wonder about that whole 1% thing is even if you have the same tyres front and rear ... they are at different pressures ... so dont their effective diameters change due to the squish/bulge at the bottom where it contacts the road? V8 or else ... |
