If it was fitted I would leave it be, its most likely got some adhesive holding it in place too.

Yeah, but it is broke - that's the thing. It's got a wavy bit in the middle where it doesn't fit quite flush to the body at the bottom. I'll have it back to the bodyshop who did the tailgate and get them to either remove or replace it before my ham-fistedness breaks something expensive! |

My FFRR MY06 has it fitted. A friends 05 does not - pointed it to him earlier on. Neither of us had ever noticed. |

I think they started to use DED500180/190 side seals instead.

I removed the strip on mine, but the gap it leaves in much larger than that on the models without the strip. So i had the glass removed and refitted with the correct gap, while it was out i fitted the 2 side seals which are fitted on the later models. The seals are lead coated in rubber and fit to each side of the glass, at the bottom they are angled which allows you to sit the rear screen in the right place when bonding the glass back in. The side seals are actually have a design flaw, they bubble badly at the bottom, my friends 60 plate FF have bubbled really badly, and the parts guy at LR told me they have replaced a LOT under warranty.
