Permanent Live Accessory/Cigerette sockets??

Does anyone know if this is possible on the FFRR at all?

I've seen for D3/D4 that a simple removal of a relay and cross jumper of 2 contact points from the port of the removed relay can do this but wondering if its as simple for the FFRR??

Reason i ask is that i am thinking of going for a BlackVue with GPS..... Smile

Getting far too many near miss's on the way to work lately and need to cover myself should the worst happen, AGAIN Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Both my cig sockets and the boot aux socket are permanently live, so yes it can be done. Probably much as you describe.
The wiring diagrams for the wiring actually offer both permanent live and and ignition controlled cig sockets.
Funnily enough I want to make mine ign controlled.

Maybe we could do a swap Very Happy

having mine Perm live would be good for mobile charging as well as i plan to 'T' into the lighter socket up front and solder ona the charger cable for my phone instead of having to coil the cable up and hang it over the gear stick. Or i could use the feed going to the blackvue in the A Pillar to hang it on the sun visor Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I've seen some of these before but the blackvue is much neater and the higher res can be very useful at times (speaking from a security/accident point of view Wink )

The only feature it doesn't have that i would like to see is the ability to use the output as an input and thus have an extension unit pointing out the back, though likely just from the central roof console, to monitor the rear sides for rear end shunts and so fourth.

plus 30fps is great for reconstruction of faces/plates and so on as you get a few frames of data and even at 720p/360 you cna get near hd type print off pictures that can make ID a lot easier Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

@kingpleb

To make the sig sockets live all the time all you need to do is remove the ignition controlled relay and put a link across the two terminals where the relay contacts were in.
I think the relay is mounted on the rear fuse board.
Can you take a photo of the fuseboard so that I can compare it with mine and try and identify the relay.
We might be able to do two jobs in one. Smile

That was quick Smile
I'll compare it to mine tomorrow, if the rain stops and see if we can identify the relay.

@kingpleb

I've checked my fuseboard and have the relays marked with black crosses, I don't have the relay marked with the red circle.
Given the cig sockets are fused by fuse 1 and the fact that the cables serving the cig sockets come off the fuseboard above the red circle relay I think there is a good chance that the red circle relay serves your cig sockets and is ign controlled.
If you remove the relay and turn on your ign I think you will find the sockets are dead.
To make them permanently live you need to look at the removed relay find the two switched contacts and then bridge the corresponding contacts on the fuseboard where you removed the relay.
The link must be capable of 20A.
I think this will work. Laughing
