The cold engine squeak is just something that occurs on those SC's , previously had it done a couple of years back …

But then again what can you Expect when you pay £16k for a car …. Thumbs Up ====================================

Was there any message about the smart key not being recognised?

I have found that sometimes mine doesn't "see" the key. Easist thing is to lock and unlock via the remote. But you are supposed to hold the key up to the dash to the left of the steering column.

Could it be the battery in the remote being a bit low? Previously..

Does the FFRR use the same start button system as the Jags? There was an issue with faulty start buttons that were sending the wrong signals in new XJs - would randomly switch the cars off and unable to restart!

It's more than likely. A mate of mine had a faulty start switch and it was booked into the stealers for the next day. The day before was driving alone, engine randomly switched itself off (faulty signal) and wouldn't restart. Had to be recovered. Definitely get it checked!

I believe RRs wont attempt to start unless it knows the battery is capable of doing so, this is to prevent damage. Could the connections to the battery be loose? Next time try twisting the connections on the battery slightly

We can always swap Mick Very Happy

If i were you i'd get it booked in asap as when the SSRR i had did that it chewed the engine up after the next few days as it ate a maxi fuse then the bottom end of the engine..

Last i heard it needed a new tallblock and was awaiting delivery of said unit.. it was on a 60plate and had some silly low miles IIRC, and the same engine as your ffrr!!!

At least the 'jag' can still get you about while you need to get the dog sorted at the local beauty centre for poochs....

Wink Very Happy

PS if the latest LR advert is to be believed, the SSRR's are built in the LHC!.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

That's true 47 as after one park heat cycle while waiting for recovery it will only use 1/2 a litre, though I bet the guys at the LR dealership will give it a good try when they get it running again Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
