Hi chaps, I wonder if you could help me I tried to jump start the range today (flat battery) and the first time I tried before adding the jump leads I still had dash lights and all but since adding the jump leads I can't even turn the key????? And I have no power at all . Has anyone got any ideas where I've gone wrong I used the two terminals that's not the battery itself. ONE LIFE LIVE IT

did you use proper cables and was donor car running.....

Ouch!

The key turning could be due to the security lock on the ignition barrel which reads the chip in the key. This required power. I wonder if attaching the jump leads could have blown the fuse?

It could also be that the battery is utterly dead, could be worth removing it and charging off the car?

I know some on here say it's not wise to jump the range but I did it a handful of times with no issues at all.

Another thing could be that once the battery is completely flat it may be hosed- i.e. it may not ever hold a viable charge when left unattended.

If you have a battery charger undo the battery -ve lead and charge the battery.
