This seems to refer. Don't know anything about this, looks like a BMW tool which makes sense for BMW-era cars...?

I have this software for my laptop but my laptop does not have a serial port for my connector that goes with it (my old laptop did).

Ediabas will do it. This is a SW tool that BMW distributed to suppliers in order to develop pieces for their vehicles-including the RR- 10 years ago. And there are illegal copies floating around the www. But you need an interface to make it work. All in all usually around GBP100. And a couple of days of frustration to get set up and running.

Thanks for the replies, the IID tool looks the most interesting and capable for the money to me and I like the way it works through the display with no need for a laptop. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
