Am after upgrading the headlights in my FFRR, lad at work was going on about ballasts and resistors etc and totally lost me

Are there any standard fit, straight swap headlight bulbs that are a lot better than the standard one? If so, what are best to get? mines a 2003 Vogue, so the earliest of the FFRR headlight shape

The bulbs are d2s bulbs. You can get cheap ones on Ebay, or genuine ones from the likes if hid4u. The genuine ones are a good bit more expensive, but you take your chances depending on budget.

Don't be fooled thinking that the higher the colour temp number, the brighter it'll be, its the opposite. 4300k is the original spec, 6000k appears whiter to look at, but is slightly dimmer.

The bulbs just pop in and out, no harder than normal bulbs and if your existing ones work, you won't have to touch the ballasts. I suggest you read up some quick guides on the differences between hid bulbs.

I recently bought 6k Phillips ultinon bibs off Ebay recently and really like them V8 or else ...

i've got 6000k bulbs which i brought of ebay for £17 and they do make a great difference in respect of the light being whiter ..

btw, its best to get 2 sets as if one goes you have a replacement ready to fit.. ... - .- -.

Just bought a set for the same price to replace mine as one hass gone a bit flickery over bumps etc when they are cold - apparently a sign of them starting to fail.

Tricky to change or a piece of cake?

Still waiting for the new bulbs - should be able to do it over the weekend though.

Don't want to fiddle about until I've got the bits in case I make it worse!

i think a 2003 would be D1S bulbs...but they could be halogens so check first.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

No - these are definitely bi-Xenons.

The bi-xenon part is a powered flap in the headlight that changes the beam pattern on full beam... Nothing to do with the bulbs...
