Labrador vs FFRR

Hello all, a bit of a horror story really but with a positive ending.

Rather horribly, i hit and ran over a black labrador at the weekend - unfortunately nothing i could do, it literally ran from a hedge, directly into the car, going under the front left wheel. It then ran off.

Knocked on a few doors and eventually found owners - gave them my number should they need me etc. I got a phone call a few hours later saying they had found their dog and taken her to the vets. Amazingly she just had cuts and bruises - I was elated but equally astonished - how did the dog survive - she went under the front wheel of the range rover. It then got me thinking - did the clearance help - was the fact it was a 'clean drive over' as opposed to being crushed by the under carriage of a lower car that helped limit damage. Maybe big 4x4's aren't quite so damaging as often gets reported.

Who knows, but thankfully the dog survived...

A happy ending. Thumbs Up

And very well done for taking the effort to find the owner. Bow down

The last animal that ran out in front of me was a kangaroo in Australia last year. Lucky I didn't hit that as they cause a heck of a lot of damage. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

Some strange law says you must find the owner as driving away form hitting a Dog is a criminal offence Rolling Eyes

I'd do the same even if it was a cat but its good that the RR went over it and not through it, maybe the suppleness of newer airbags and so on helped it but lucky bloiody escape at any speed Smile

Is it not because dogs have to be Licensed , thats why that law is in place ….

Dog licences were abolished in 1987!

In Germany you have to pay additional tax that is graded on the ferociousness of the breed! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

you probably didn't run it over to be honest, and instead thumped if off the front corner and the wheel ... which you certainly would have felt.

If you'd run it right over, it would be flat. I've ran over deer, they go flat. Dogs do the same ... so do cats, pheasants, rabbits, pigeons ... pretty much anything I've run over seems to have been pancaked.

I've thumped a deer off the front corner, felt it through the steering, rammed the brakes on and stopped to get out only to see no deer in the road. I reckon I'd thumped it and set it spinning and it just ran off behind the car.

Felt like a right idiot when the next car came along stopped to see why I was in the middle of the road with the hazards on saying i'd hit a deer .... but it wasn't there ! Smile V8 or else ...
