When you top up, do you top up to the top of the reservoir or the level marker?

I was always tempted to put a little extra in until I realised this was causing my problems as there was no room for the system to expand and it would blow its load out of the valve in the cap.

It's also worth checking/replacing the cap - this has a pressure relief valve, if it's not maintaining the correct pressure you can get a lot of evaporation.

Hi Craig,
as far as i am aware and have extensively read it is ok to either blue or red, I have a bmw v8 4.4; as long as u dont mix the two as it creates gung and sludge.

Hi Dan
I think I did top it up quite a bit but not to the to top though. I am wondering if it is the cap, i do have the correct cap (200). would be great if the caps at fault, easy replace.

So long as you use the same colour coolant your ok. Both red/orange and blue/green are ok for the engine just don't mix them. Do you know the sensor works on SG instead of level? Your mix might have been to weak giving a false "low coolant" bong. Also to strong can cause the bong.
Ment to add Joe90 changed the short hose not so long ago. Have a search I'm sure he posted pics and part numbers etc. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I've got a BIG leak, which is driving me mad, as I cant find it (big as in it loses about a litre every 10 miles, more if I rev it hard). I've been under it & there's red/pink coolant running down both sides of the gearbox housing, so I'm guessing it's somewhere behind the engine - I'm gonna have a look for Joe90's post that was mentioned earlier, but if anyone's got any other suggestions of where to look, it'd be greatly appreciated - it goes in the garage on Tuesday, so I'd like to save a few quid & sort it myself... 2003 L322 Vogue SE 4.4 + LPG

Only things at the back are; coolant hoses for heater matrix (joe90's hose), coolant manifold connecting LH & RH Banks, and 2 coolant pipes connecting water pump to rear manifold. My guess would be joes hose, then connecting pipes their only "o" rings sealing them then the manifold gaskets but doubt both would fail. Have a look here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic6714.h...oolant+pan my post on stripping the inlet side to get to the valley pan. A few pics might help you out. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

That's great, thanks Rob - I spotted your post & all the really great pics just after I posted my first comments - I'm putting my money on one of the LPG connections - my vapouriser is situated towards the front of the car on the RHS (looking from the front). Your post reminded me that the bottom hose on the vapouriser was leaking slightly a couple of weeks ago, so I moved it slightly & re-tightened the jubilee clip - its got worse since then (I originally thought I'd over tightened the clip & made it worse, but it's definitely dry around there now...) 2003 L322 Vogue SE 4.4 + LPG
