More times than not, when I go to fill up the TDV8 it takes an absolute age because the fuel filler keeps on clicking off, as if the tank is full! I've tried turning the nozzle in different directions buts its really annoying.

Does anyone else have this? Is it an issue with the filler neck that needs dealership attention?

Mostly down to when your filling up the air is being pushed out which automatically sets off the pumps cut off system.

Do you put the nozzle fully in ....

Or before you fill up, take off the diesel cap and try to shake the FFRR slightly to dispel any built up gas or air in the tank.

Every 500 miles, alright for some folk ..............

I presume this is different to your td6 then? My td6 is no problem to fill.

Have you tried just putting the nozzle just into the filler on the first 'notch' ? I never push it all the way in. FFRR TD6 06MY. Cairns Blue, Blue Hide. LR 7 Spoke 20" Wheels, S/C Grill and Vents. Privacy Glass and Side Steps

Never had a problem with the TD6, but that didn't have the fuel gaurd fitted either.

Why do we need saving from ourselves , I was always happy with a big bore filler pipe....

Is the fuel filler pipe made of a flexible material that could somehow be kinked or creased resulting in impedance of fuel flow? Discovery 4 HSE

Turn the pump handle through 180 degrees and use it 'upside-down'. Works for me! I think the mis-fuel device in the filler neck makes for a difficult fill at the best of times.  The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

There is a "Difficult to Fill Fuel Tank" TSB on GTR http://www.landrovertechinfo.com. Can be found under Technical Bulletins at Reference: LTB00135v2. Don't know what it contains as I have not accessed it.

Reset the fuel guard just incase  '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs
