Year, condition, service history all need to be taken into consideration for a value.

Hi Gaz,

So you reckon £14k trade for the vehicle in question?

Anything I should know about a high mileage tdv8?

Car has had FLRSH right up to 141k Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

Thats the trade value if its 2006/56 and "Clean".

If its been looked after and well serviced should be OK.

I think the Gearbox, Bushes, Bearings, Brakes, Steering may all be worth checking.

If it were me i'd bank on getting the box flushed with such high miles as its likely sat in top gear most of its life.

If you can tlak to the last owner/s i'd ask what its average kind of trip/life was like. If its just been commuting then things will have been easier on the suspension components.
If its been on shots, been towing or been used on country roads more than A-Road/Motorway then the suspension will have had more wear to it.

Check the interior and see if its been a family car or just driver using it most of the time.

Check the underside for any scrapes as this cna show its been used offroad.

Also think about wheel bearings at that milage as its a fair old weight of car and has been turning those wheels for a long time now.

If its not been pushed hard before then the exhaust could be coked up inside so a good blast on some good fuel will see it back to health as well Smile

Steering wheel could well be quite worn as well so maybe budget for a nice new nappa one Smile

A Vogue SE will command a bit more money as well.

Just make sure everything works and there aren't any squeeks from it as i have found you cant get a warranty on high milers for love or money, not even the breakdown type warranties unless you think about contribution type ones...

its good as in there is no timing belt on it, still chains used on these TDV8's IIRC so one less thing to worry about.

Best thing to do if you can is ask a local specialist to come and look over it for you and draw up a report with estimates just for you and to not share it with the current owner. This way you have a good bargaining chip as you could use MainDealer prices if you need to haggle/hack at it.

TDV8's are getting very cheap and considering i saw another TD6 last night at £23k from a main dealer i do wonder what the world is coming to....

Even if its not perfect it may be worth buying just to sell on for a profit as you could easily sell a bad tdv8 in the current climate for £17k... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

the vehicle in question is this one....

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...?logcode=p

Not sure about the colour, I also don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me but is there something on the roof rail?

Hard to really see from the images if its had a hard life, i would assume by the mileage that its done motorway miles...wheels look a little kerbed... Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

That one has been for sale since at least December. I saw the ad when buying mine.

My two penneth is that above say 150k miles, then nobody wants to touch them come resale time. Therefore, you are effectlvley "writing off" a large proportion of your purchase price come resale (far more than "normal" levels of depreciation) as not only will your potential market be minute, also they won't want to give any money for a really high miler. Budget for massive depreciation Shocked

The fact that the car is probably mid-life is immaterial!

Clearly this is of little consequence if you intend on keeping the car until death do you part! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Roof rails and deployable side steps by the looks of it, Buckingham blue is the colour.

I know what your saying but i bought my supercharged @ 140k and its been solid and I have a 3K over what i paid for it offer on the table, mileage doesn't really bother me so long as its reflected in the price.

I mean if i were to get that car at around the price Gaz is talking about to trade then how much more could it drop?

It would be interesting to see how long they've had it up for sale for? I'm sure in vogue se guise, it looks as though its got electric sidesteps too, there's got to be some fools that are tempted at a low price tdv8.

Interior seems to look not too shabby, anyone close by there who could have a look Smile since im up in Scotland! Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

The roof rails are the track system ones. Quite an expensive option. If it has the slot in cross rails the complete set would make 500 quid on the bay.

The landline number is a virtual landline number not tied to a normal phone operator but a VOIP type service and i'd bet it redirects to their mobile...

What area is it actually in as i know the number is meant to indicate a london code but....

TBH if the car is good i always say ignore the miles as long as the price reflects it, IE more miles, less £££.

I did and I got a TD6 with FLRSH, 1 proper posh lady owner(with a wet dog problem), had a tailgate issue and smelt of wet dog in the boot, 124k on the clock. I got it for £12900, yet if i look today i can see TD6's in pretty similar nick for (and i shyte thee not!!) £28k fair enough its less than a year newer than mine and has just over half the miles but still!!

This one is 2 months newer and again just over half the miles of mine and is VSE, but still £23k

That kinda price is enough to buy a really cheap £8k 4.4 v8 just for thrashing about in and ruining or for a few years of fuel if put on a fuel card..

I'd say if you can easily go and check it out then go do so as you'll not see it depreciate much until the L405 comes out and then us high milers will really drop down Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

will has a very valid point there....do you spend £20k 'ish on a high miler tdv8 or £10k on a older v8 and use the money saved for the extra in fuel costs.....got to admit there are some tasty v8's about.. ... - .- -.

Why bother with a 10k one when for £6.5k this is the cheapest L322 (RUNNER!) i've seen!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-RANGE...256c62e5be

Buy that and you can get an LPG conversion for about £2k, put another £1500 into the bodywork IF that much from a chipsaway type repairer, then the rest into a breakdown type warranty (circa £150-200 P/A) and have a decent motor for £10k.

In fact i know why its so cheap, They're scottish Wink , Seriously perth is way oop north so i bet he's struggled to sell locally but still, £100-150 for trains from most UK places and thats 1st class as well Very Happy

Christ i do wonder why i bought my TD6 for so much now Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
