Private Plate advice

Hi all, I have a plate that I want transferred to my new FFRR, didn't think it would be too much trouble to transfer it over by visiting my local dvla in Chelmsford.

But, disaster strikes and I have just seen that the V5C/2 new keeper details has the details of the dealer I bought the car from Rolling Eyes

What do I do, any ideas please Confused

As far as I know, it can still be done using Section 10 (New Keeper Supplement) of your V5 together with form type V62 and the current MOT certificate.

ETA: Sorry, just seen that V5C/2 is in fact Section 10. You will have to wait for the V5 to arrive in your name in that case.

Hi mate,

just to let you know you dont need to wait at all. when i purchase my car I transferred my plate on stright away. the way it works is that you need to take in your new keep details slip with you, your retention certificate that you have for the plate, your mot certificate and they do it all there and then for you.

they will print you out a new tax disc and mot certificate with your private plate and what they do is put a stop on the original v5 log book that is in process and restart the process the production of of the new v5 log book with the private reg.

you can put your plate on straight away as all systems are updated at the dvla office, you have your tax disc and mot certificate.

I done this recently in the last few months and was all done at my local dvla office. hope it helps.

I did this in November at the local DVLA office in Sheffield............

Get the dealer to fill in the doc transferring keeper to you, and take that, and all your private plate stuff in.

They will transfer keeper to you, and then they can transfer plate, with no issues, as you are the registered keeper........they have to type in details as you as the keeper first though.

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers

Cheers Guys

The problem I have is that the dealer put road tax on the car and to do so, had to fill in the new keeper details section as him in order to get the road tax.

The V5 has been sent to the DVLA with my details on it so the dealer won't be shown as an additional owner.

Unless there's a form I can fill in even thuogh the new keeper details section doesn't have my details on it, I guess I may have to wait for the V5 to come in my name, but I am an impatient Censored and want everything done immediately if not sooner Very Happy

We didn't post anything off when I did it. I took it all in, by hand, as it were.......

Sounds like you'll have be be a little more patient, or impatient, as the case may be..........!!
