Bluetooth Software Update - No Auto Connect / Phonebook

Hi all

Had my 2007 MY TDV8 serviced yesterday and the specialist LR garage said they would perform all necessary software updates as part of the good deal they gave me.

They confirmed that the Bluetooth module received the very latest LR software and it accepted it without problems.

My phone is a Blackberry Bold 9780 and it had the latest software version installed so wouldn't even pair, it would recognise the phone when i got in but that's all. After the software update nothing changed, i got the pairing screen on my phone but couldn't connect.

I went on the LR website and found that the phone software wasn't listed so downgraded to one the earliest on their for that phone and now it connects to the car but not automatically on entry and the phone book still wont transfer, got a message saying it couldn't find the push object or something.

I'm disappointed and whilst i realise getting a new module off wiggs may have given a different outcome does anyone know why mine wont work. The phone is a company one and others at work can pair with Kia 4x4, Volvo 4x4, Merc S Class etc so if this is LR best software then its poor.

Am i able to access the diagnostics screen on the nav and find out what level software in now loaded to check it is the latest?.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

Spoke to the specialist earlier and they say I will need a newer module to get the auto pairing and phonebook transfer.

Its a 2007 MY so I'd expected it to have the latest module albeit with out of date software which it should now have?

If Wiggs can load the latest software to modules from 05 MY onwards then surely it can be done to mine?

Any help appreciated?

Thanks

Carl

Have discussed with him previously and the outcome was to buy a module from him and whilst that's a known route it doesn't help me understand why the update didn't work in my TDV8?

I ask myself, why pay £60 if there's a simple resolution to my problem, perhaps the specialist missed something when doing the update for example?

phonebook over bluetooth was only indroduced in 2008 ...any earlier vehicles / modules dont have the facility except via the cradle and an appropriate cradle / phone

i can update your software no problem (as long as its not one certain part number )

the only time the contacts would not show is if they are stored on the sim card and not the phone

sounds like they may have NOT actually updated your phone module Shocked

Is there a way I can tell? They gave me a sheet showing it as being done but I'm also not so sure

not that i know of, in the diag screen that i told you about earlier, you can see various system versions, but i dont believe the bluetooth version is listed.

A question for Wiggs... MY2007 Vogue SE TDV8 - Tonga Green / Sand

Wiggs, so how do I transfer the phone book or can't in a 2007 MY?

Auto connect also hasn't worked after the update, is that not possible either?

you cant until you upgrade the software .

once you have the latest software on the module the contacts will work ( as long as there stored on the phone and not the sim card )

auto pairing will also work ...although there is one software version on the blackberry which causes issues ...can be delt with by changing the phone software

you cannot tell what version bluetooth there is from the diagnostic screen ....only by going into the files stored in the car ( via laptop and diagnostic tools )

Im meant to have the very latest software but functionality tells me otheriwse, one of many complaints from my service at a local specialist last Friday when they apparently did the update.

Im almost considering getting proof that the Bluetooth update hasnt been performed then reporting them to trading standards and demanding my money back.

Most likely the others havent been done either Censored
