Scratters

I like to think I am down there with the kids but my daughter uses the term "Scratter" to describe anyone who isn't as fortunate as herself, if you accept that being my daughter is fortunate.

I live in Lancashire and it's not a term I am familiar with, she's only started using it since she moved to Leeds in Yorkshire - does that mean any ne'r do well, state subsidised scrounger from the White Rose county is a Scratter or is the term more widely used? I wonder if my recent birthday - thanks for all the cards and good wishes by the way Very Happy , means I am now officially out of touch and "Scratter" is more widely used than I realised. I mean would it apply to those of us who ventured into Aldi "scratting" for a cheapo battery charger for example Whistle I'd be interested in views.............. Geoff

I just looked up "scratter" in the Urban Dictionary on t'interweb - I think I get where she's coming from now.

The mere fact we could afford the battery charger at £13 or indeed had a battery to charge (esp. in a Range Rover) would seem on the face of it to disqualify anyone on the forum from being a scratter, even if you are from Yorkshire or Cumbria Very Happy Geoff
