I took out that warranty with them... £80 I paid last October. I'd haggle a bit! Thought it was good to have just in case a major part went, ie gearbox, alternator etc... Yes it only comes into effect after you have broken down, but the parts list it covers is pretty comprehensive. For £80 it is peace of mind. Previously..

Surely just about every mechanical breakdown would be a component failure - whether that component is a (eg) piston leading to total engine failure or a torque converter...

Can you add a third option to your poll, cos I've never had a breakdown in 3 years of ownership (apart from a flat battery which was my fault). 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |

You watch what happens now- a total failure somewhere remote! |

It would appear that out of all the members that have read this thread only a handful have actually been recovered following a breakdown.

My reasons - transmission died and locked up (on my doorstep, but recovered to LR). (L322) and Alternator died (P38A) Middle lane in middle of three lane roundabout with traffic lights during rush hour. Waited 20 minutes before someone stopped to tow me off |

Presumably you could make sure you were in need of recovery when said failure occured? |
