Transmission Error Codes

Whilst driving about in my Td6 today, I heard a bong and a message flashed up on the instrument cluster.....

Due to my pixel issue, I couldn't really tell what it was, and pressing the button to see the message again, just resulted in "Check Control OK".

When home, I connected my laptop with RAC on, and went through each module, reading codes. Various codes were about, nothing that worried me, but under the Transmission Control Module I had ;

CAN bus transfer box timeout. General Fault.
CAN bus engine management system timeout. General Fault.

I reset those and when I re-read the codes (straight after), I got ;

Pressure line solenoid 2 fault. General Fault.
Pressure line solenoid 5 fault. General Fault.
CAN bus brake signal fault. General Fault.

Car seems fine.........no messages on check control.

Do I need to worry about this ?

I make sure all the last lot of faults clear and then reset the adaptions if possible. I would check the CAN bus network connections as these can be problematic. Then you'll have to run it and see if anything comes back.
Good luck

Just been to my local Land Rover independant - car drives fine, no more messages......

I have a 12 month Warranty that runs out in November, the garage recon they might not cover a gearbox failure, as at 120k miles, it could be seen as wear and tear........

They say they take the auto box off, and send to a specialist who only deals with trade. the oil cooler gets replaced, and the torque converter and the gearbox is reconditioned. Comes with a 12 month warranty, and comes in at about £1800 he seems to remember.

I shall prob ring my warranty company and have a chat about what their policy is re gearboxes.

The garage said that the oil coolers tend to clog up, which makes the gearbox overheat and the valve body issue more of a problem ?

Who knows what the oucome of this escapade will be............?

If I end up having to pay, decisions as to sonnax kits etc will have to be made, but as a warranty is involved, it's likely the 'box will already be off and in pieces before a decision is made as to whether warranty covers it or not....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

For continuity, just posted this on another thread ;

Literally in the last few mins I've received an email from Mackie transmissions.

They fit the Sonnax upgrade and offer a lifetime warranty on the torque converter.......

Seems like a top job to me........

"The cost to recondition both transmission & torque converter is £1850.00+vat,

We fully recondition your transmission & torque converter to manufacturers specifications including the sonnax valve/body upgrade and all this is done here at our premises mark,

We recondition your torque converter in house and it has a life time warranty,

Yes mark you need to replace the transmission oil cooler 100% as the fine metal lodges inside and it is impossible to get it all out, so best to replace it,

Hope this helps you to decide mark". 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
