Good VFM then compared to getting both turbos replaced.
I still can't see the need to replace both turbos at the same time unless something has been chewed up and metal particulates are found in the oil, in which case the whole engine is best to be stripped as well.
If it were me i would likely have looked at a Roller Bearing turbo replacement option as they last even longer and are more free boosting
Its not the most expensive bill i've seen for a failed TDV8 unit mind
it could have failed early for any reason, all it takes is one hot run with not enough cool down time and a bit of oil cooks on its bearing and then it forever builds up slowly overtime and gets worse till it either ceases or wears a nasty groove into the bearing sleeve/shaft.
