Questions from Nooby

Hi guys this is my first post here.
I am looking at a 2003 TD6 one owner FSH at RR dealer 136000 mile this weekend. Diff changed in 2008
At present I drive a 1997 300TDi Disco which has served me well for nearly 5 years but I feel it is time for an upgrade.
I am 6ft5in tall so need a bit of space and comfort for me in it as I travel a bit for work, 8-9hrs (400 miles)at the wheel on B roads a couple of times a month.
Also one of my jobs is a self employed sparky and I use my vehicle for that maybe a dozen times a year carrying crates of tools, cable and a ladder.
So could a kind owner please give me an idea of interior space for me and rear dimensions for load area length with seat up and folded, width between rear arches and interior height of load area.

Thank you
Adrian

I think there is more space all round in a Disco so you may be better off in a newer Disco than a FFRR? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

As Joe has said there is a tiny bit more space in the Disco's, though i think this is mainly due to the shape being more boxier.

I'd still reccomend that some kind of ply lining was installed for the base, sides and certainly some kind of dog guard type affair for behind the front seats for heavy kit. Some recessed tie down hooks and bungies would be good to help stop kit moving around under partial loading unless its all packed in tight Very Happy

Speaking from both sides of driving a Disco 4 HSE long term (over 3 months and 9k miles) and a FFRR (2005 facelift vintage) and i've put 7k on this so far and for loading kit in the Disco wins but for sheer comfort when piling miles on the FFRR wins.

Now if you got a cheap box trailer and had a TDV8 or SC then the FFRR would be the choice to go for.

The other problem is the numerous reliability issues with the Disco 3's, the main reason why i looked into FFRR's Very Happy Disco 3's also come as commericals which FFRR wont do..

If you can i'd stretch for a D4 HSE/XS spec if you can as an FFRR shouldn't really be subjected to hauling kit internally. the interior won't appreciate it without good protection Sad

Also in your market you may still be able to get a petrol version and then convert it to LPG to help reduce fuel costs as well.

The disco's cost a bit more for servicing, specially when its cambelt time(the FFRR TDV8 3.6 doesnt have one!)

Test drive both in the spec you want is all i can advise as the main starting point to see what you think.

How big is the ladder as it may require a roof rack to be fitted??

I have had my L322 for 3 years and yes things go wrong like on all cars but my next car will be a newer S/C L322!! A Rangerover is for life not just for christmas
