B+E driving test experience :-(

Just wondering if anyone on here has done this test or not as I'm looking to take it in the near future Smile

I currently tow a twin axle caravan under learner rights (loaded about 1800kg!) with the mrs beside me as she passed her tat before the cut off but is too scared to drive it Sad

People I know who have done it tell me it's more like a hgv test. I used to use my dads car rather than the FFRR to tow my trailer, as it made me just under the limit, whereas I was over in the FFRR.

I think that either now or very soon, the rules have/will change & you have had to have passed the very test you are "teaching" on in order to accompany someone without that licence. Therefore those of us with what is termed "Grandfather Rights" (i.e. pre-1 Apr '97 licenses) can no longer "teach" those without the proper licenses.

This applies to both B+E & also C1 (7.5 tonne truck) too.

You can obviously teach someone to drive a car (category B) as you have passed that test!

Big Brother is clamping down on us! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Cheers Avi and Pie.

Thats a bummer Sad

Did you manage to pass the test at all??

This is the bit that worries me as i have the experience, especialy of moving smaller trailers and a car transporter a few times.

The cost is shocking, im guessing i'll have to budget at least £300 to include test fee and use of an instructers car for the test and maybe a few days before to practice in Sad

What an ass that is Evil or Very Mad
