There's a few things I'd like to see in the next version:

Proper front LEDs
Flashing rear brakes under heavy braking like Mercedes
Better iPod/iPhone linking, maybe iPad linking somehow
Heated seats on ALL models to be electric and not fan operated - don't think they are as good in the VSE
Better cup holders front and rear - ones that actually work, like the pre 2006 facelift version
Better positioning of power sockets in the front - needs one closer to the front screen for windscreen mounted devices
Sat Nav that you can upload POI's to and update online
Bluetooth audio AND phone connections like in the Evoque
Bluetooth connection to more than one device at a time - with a selector for the primary device.
A TPMS system that works and not so temperamental
Black headlining as no cost option

That's all I can think of right now while I eat my lunch, I know I will have forgotten some, what are your ideas?

Maybe Land Rover will read this and take it on board!

So, all that time ago I mentioned these points and some later on too, it seems Land Rover do Listen to us, as most of these have been addressed in the L405 (Or should we now refer to it as the RR4?)

When I looked at the one in Stratstone Nottingham, the cup holder inserts will still the same as the L322 (so no good) but they have moved a power socket to the cup holder area if you need to power a windscreen mounted device.

The BT audio is done, LED lights done, flashing rear brake lights under heavy braking done. Not sure about the Sat nav updating.

I think it also has the silent blade wipers too, though didn't specifically check this. Electric tailgates are a good addition also.

floor safe

i think thesedays there is a need to have to carry various electronic gadjets, like ipad or laptop, therefore, cant we have under the rear seat, a shallow floor safe, (or two) either drawer like from behind the knees/calves, or fold back seat down twice, to reveal safe. with a usb port with a 1hr push button to charge! and a couple of (roof lining) overhead elastic net document holders.
lastly, with the venture cam type of forward/reverse camers, could we perhaps have an sd card type recording option, like the 'dash cam' idea, with all cameras filming to sd card and over-recording anything 1 hr ago. for accident analysis etc. with a button of course to turn it off for seeing the mistress!

Just exploring my new L405 and have found one unexpected feature which I thought was good: when driving abroad, no need for headlight lens stick-ons, there is an electronic configuration for the lighting (drive on left or drive on right). Very sensible. I came from a 2002 L322 (so it’s interesting comparing the first iterations of each): that means my knowledge of specifications is a decade out of date! Was this lighting trick possible on the later 322 models, or is it new on the L405? Norman

Good news about not needing to adjust headlights! On my GTC there is no such setting but the handbook says there is no need to make any adjustments! Maybe thing's aren't as strict anymore or lighting systems are more advanced...

Some lights adjust automatically via GPS signal, some newer Xenons have a "neutral" beam that doesn't have a specific LHD or RHD pattern.

So, answering my own question for the sake of future forum trawlers... on the 322 it's a lever on the actual headlight (never had to use it on mine!) and on the 405 it's electronic (Owners Handbook page 55) but only needed if you have High Beam Assist (http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic20541.html) Norman

seriously....

lots of talk about cupholders, how about a cupholder, under the bonnet! it could even have a loop of heater hose around it to keep it warm! Rolling with laughter and maybe a little magnetic tray to put your bits in while you are working! Thumbs Up
