You know, as time goes on, I'm not really getting a good feel for the look of this thing.

Could be wrong though. V8 or else ...

Saw VX11 HHW at Eastnor recently whilst on a half-day freebie experience. It was undergoing offroad testing. Driver happy to chat and allow exterior inspection and a peer through the windows during his lunchbreak. Interior was completely covered, except for cut-outs for vents. I gleaned the following:

It was running the current SDV6 3.0 (from D4 and RRS).
Tyres were prototypes from Goodyear.
Steering wheel is 'tidier' than current and horn 'buttons' have been moved (although not sure where to).
Driver had lots of LR experience (P38, L322, Freeelander and Evoque) and said that L322 to L405 is overall a less dramatic development than the change from P38 to L322.
7 seat is being considered.
He had seen undisguised car and said "if you think big Evoque, you won't be far off."
Lots of alu' used to achieve 500kg off weight.
It handles better than L322 and is faster around 'ring (no sh!t Sherlock there, TBH!)
Air vents for rear seats are in headlining above windows.
Interior wood is not as current.
Windows clearly 'narrower' and doors 'deeper'; similar to Evoque style.
Suspension air cylinders appear different in construction.
"It drives very well offroad" - not exactly breaking news though, I guess Laughing
It IS longer than L322.

Thanks azure111s Thumbs Up

Your information seems far more credible than most of the recent speculation in the motoring mags Laughing

Perhaps they will all cut and paste your post for their next editions and I hope with a suitable disclaimer identifying "their source" Whistle

Out of interest, does anybody happen to know when L405 is due to be put in to production? Expected delivery dates? -Michael

The roof rail bits were very 'stuck on' on the one I saw. I suspect they're to distract the gaze from the obviously sloping roofline (a la Evoque).

I think it's due to debut next year with production commencing late next year and first deliveries in early 2013.

Well its got a westfalia towbar on it so maybe its sitting on the D4/RRS platform for testing or they are maybe moving away from monocoque??
