If its a twin turbo there will be a lot of pressure built into the system and air volume that will get dumped through the recirculating dumpvalves so it should be louder than say a TD6 or the older 3.6 tdv8 as the turbos are bigger IIRC for the 4.4.

Mine is audible with windows closed too...makes me think something is up with mine now! It's mostly when just setting off from a standstill. Right? |

To be honest I usually have the radio or cd on, so even with that quiet I can't really hear mine.

Had a good listen today and all I can hear is a slight, brief whistle at the start of acceleration & that's only with the window down and not constant. Kind of get just a little blip of a whistle - I guess as the air gets sucked in & blown out.
