Help Please - Won't Start, Also "Transmission fault&quo

Morning all.

Was really cross last night - noticed the approach lights in the mirrors are not working. Checked the bulbs, checked the fuses then retired defeated.

This morning the bloody thing wont start!

Puts the approach light problem into perspective.

Unlocks normally, doesn't feel like a weak battery if you know what I mean, but nothing from the starter.

After turning the key to the start position, I get two error messages, "Transmission Fault Limited Gears Only" and "HDC fault system not available".

I think these messages can be triggered by a weak battery but I did put a very heavy duty jump pack onto the jump posts under the bonnet and the car still did not turn over, and the messages stayed.

Really looking for some suggestions as to next steps.

Is it worth throwing a battery at it? Would have thought the jump pack would have made a difference if that was the problem.

All and any thoughts appreciated.

The "Transmission Fault Limited Gears Only" and "HDC fault system not available" could be related to a power loss and require the steering wheel turned left and right once the vehicle is started to clear. Not starting could be the inhibitor switch on the gearbox not contacting properly, use search on the forum for tips from Gazellio to lubricate the gear linkage

Thanks.

Did try cycling the gear selector back and forward.

Light on the selector correctly indicates gear position, as does message centre. Presumably if the selector is correctly indicating P or N then this should discount a stuck linkage?

Replying to my own, bad form!

Just spoke to Gazellio, who advised check of the gear linkage as suggested by 47p2. Apparently indicators on the gear lever only show where the lever is, not where the gearbox selector has moved to.

That's got to be a big relief!

Just need to sort out the approach lights now! Bet you're not so worried about that now though! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
