A bit thin, very black, not too gritty and no swarf. I had a new gearbox @ 30,000 miles ago, and don't know if this oil got changed then, but given the difference between the old and the new oil, I was glad I changed it. . On a note would it be worth having the car on an incilne to help drain more of the old bad fluid out and then if possible allowing the car to roll back onto flat ground to fill up??

After you did the oil change did you operate the hi / lo range selecter as the bit of kit in the box that changes from hi / lo requires hyd oil to change selection if not when you operate it it will suck oil up to fill the pump and leave your level in the box low please check level after operating the hi / lo selection |

This is the transfer case (box) oil change, not the main gearbox, so just a 1 litre bottle of "unique" oil for @ £12, and about half an hours work. . I would have done the hi/lo change about, but this is the part of my transmission that doesn't work!. If I put into low range I get the TFP message on the dash, and the ![]() Wasn't aware the hi/lo shift required the oil other than for lubrication, if you check out RRPhil's video on a cutaway gearbox, it seems it is a very straightforward mechanical movement. I saw your other post about this and was a little unsure about the hydraulic requirements? .
