2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Adriatic Blue
TD6 Battery

Hi

Had my FFRR for 2 months, done nearly 2k miles. In a morning the HDC Inactive light sometimes displays until the car starts. Took it to my Indie as the Air Suspension Inactive light came on mid week- they have reset everything and updated some software.

The HDC came on again y/day but so far the air suspension is ok.

Indie states the battery start up current is too low and suggested a new battery - worryingly they also said it may be signs of the ABS ECU faulting?

Two questions.

What is the very best battery for the RRtd6 2003. Its pointles having a car bought for all the fun of the winter if it won't start as soon as it gets a bit cold so I want the very best battery.

RE the ABS ECU where can I source one / will it repair? how can I be sure its screwed?

Othewise everything fine. Range Rover TD6 Vogue Adriatic Blue

Hi mate - I had issues with mine along with others on here. The original battery from LR is not big enough (power wise) really.

Best to go for a 110ah 920cca battery. I went for this one and had no issue so far.

Hope it helps Ash

Sorry mate - Yes I did. Very easy on line and fast delivery. From memory I think it was next day. I also ordered one for Mrs C's P38 and same story.

Thumbs Up from me at least. Ash

don't worry about the wasting money on a ABS ECU the HDC inactive message is pretty normal when the battery gets low.

Buy a good battery charger instead. 2004 black Vogue TD6

Thanks for that, reassuring.

Am I right in thinking if the HDC message goes off as soon as it started then the Hill Decent IS working.

PS It only does it when starting from overnight when its colder. If I start it when its stood all day at work (and warmer) it doesnt show the HDS Inactive message.

Thanks

Yes. I have had this message appear briefly but have tried Hill Descent switch straight after and it works fine. So it would appear to be an erroneous message when the battery is a bit low. Incidentally if I turn the key and start the engine straight away it doesn't happen. If I turn the key and wait for the heater plug light to go out (a couple of seconds) the message often appears. In the summer the car will start immediately so the delay isn't needed. I haven't had the car for very long so don't know how it will behave in the winter yet.

I used to carry a spare battery and jump leads in my old tdi300 Discovery in the event of low battery on cold mornings. May be worth considering for my FF. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

yes as mike said your hill decent is fine.

i use the "hdc inactive" message as a low battery warning. I got a new battery about a year ago but after too many short runs, camping etc it comes back and then i just put the battery on charge. 2004 black Vogue TD6
