Audi A8 anyone?

Has anyone here ever had, or know anyone that has/had an Audi A8.

Ive been looking at an 09 with low mileage at half the price it was new Whistle

Pretty much got everything inside a vogue has, 4-wheel drive etc. etc.
Still prestigious and luxurious.

Would be looking at the 3.0 Litre rather than a 4.2, 5.1 or 6.0 (I think they do these sizes)

LWB looks nice too for extra rear leg room Thumbs Up

All comments are appreciated.

One of my colleagues has one - I think it's an 06 4.2 diesel - he has the odd problem with the power steering but other that that it's great.

I've had a couple of A6's in the past, the last one was a 3.0 Diesel, brilliant cars - I can't remember them ever missing a beat! Geoff

Had A4 cab for a couple of years, great car, solid, dependable, and just as expensive to fix things as a FFRR Laughing .

Was looking at an Audi A6, good car for the money you pay. Just too basic inside and not as majestic as the A8 Cool

Had an 2007 Audi S8 with the 5.2 V10 before I bought the new RRS...biggest mistake of my life!!! ( now gone for the FFRR) .....The S8 can be summed up in one word AWESOME!!!!!...The 3.0 TD is good but if you can afford it go for the 4.2TD possibly the finest diesel engine there is...and goes like sh*t yet returns 30mpg. The A8 is also 4wd and copes with ice and snow better than any X5!! Laughing ...My advice is go for it you won't be disappointed Thumbs Up

I used to work in a golf club where one fella ran the local toyota/citroen dealer frequented yet many people who played there as well had A8's or S8's. there was one guy who got a new one every 6 months Shocked and loved it, hooned it everywhere and never mentioned once anything breaking!

Why not get an S8 and convert it Very Happy

Back in 2004 I had a 2001 A8 4.2 Quattro. Bought as ex lease car with almost 100K on the clock.

Beautiful, fast and luxurious but lacked 'character'. Ran for 6 months then sold for a profit as the job I went to came with a car.

Afterwards children happened and boot space for big prams became the priority Crying or Very sad

Ive had a few hot Audis over the years as my 4wd "practical" car

the RS6 estate was the best, but the running costs were horrific, like 2x an Aston or Rangey over same mileage

doing 20K miles a year in one, and driving it hard.

the consumables are unique to the RS6 (the huge discs, 8 pads etc) so it was £1600 a year just in discs n pads alone, add another £1k for tyres, £1k servicing at dealer...before anything went wrong (suspension at £1k a corner)

...would love another one, but its cheaper to run 2 cars for the job of "practical" and "sports" Smile cheers

Nice but to 95% of the driving population its just another silver saloon car. That's what separates the Range Rover IMHO.
