You can do this! Don’t admit defeat! Evil or Very Mad

Ball joint in first, but put a big cable tie through the front hole & bracket to take the weight & keep the front bushing in roughly the right place and take the weight off. Then you need to use a small trolley jack/wood blocks to support/lift the arm, vs a short pry bar (curved end) to push the donut either downwards or backwards to get it roughly in position, before using the pointy end of the bar to line up the two holes (bracket & donut) It’s essential to use a good light and a MIRROR to see what you’re doing, as if the holes aren’t lined up properly, you just won’t get the bolts in. Without the mirror, you won’t succeed.

Go for it man! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Try jacking up the hub so it’s sitting at a normal(ish) ride height rather than hanging in the air. Sometimes the limit of travel is the ball joint , and when removed, the arms move beyond the ball joint limit so you’d never be able to put the ball joint back in. Holding the suspension at a more normal height allows more flex at the ball joint. V8 or else ...

Yeah, similar to the lowers, it’s not easy to get the faces of the bush and bracket perfectly parallel. If the bush is even slightly tilted, it won’t go in. Before you get it any closer, put some silicone grease on the insides of the bracket and the end faces of the metal bush, to at least help align the holes later. Good luck!! Well done! Knuckle slipping off the jack sounds a bit dodgy, but it’s a forceful operation!
When I did my lowers, I could not crack the tapers despite lots of pounding and even heat.
I got a massive US Pro seperator for not a lot of money, and 2 minutes later, it just popped out like a cork!

Had to use the manual screw, the hydraulic ram just wouldn’t fit in, did the job easily anyway!
Bit of a pain to buy a tool to use every 5 year tho’. Rolling Eyes “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Looks a strong tool. I have a multiple set of splitting tools bought from eBay in a big blue box. I had to buy something butch to get the bottom swivel joint out on a Freelander 2. In the end, I had to take the whole thing out, and get a Club Hammer and big drift to thwack it out in daylight. The arm had been bent in an accident, and straightened in the past, and the ball joint was bent. It just shows that one never knows what the last member of the bodge it and scarper family has done before you got it. I have my L322 to do on front links sometime, so useful knowledge, thanks.
