Try jacking up the hub so it’s sitting at a normal(ish) ride height rather than hanging in the air. Sometimes the limit of travel is the ball joint , and when removed, the arms move beyond the ball joint limit so you’d never be able to put the ball joint back in. Holding the suspension at a more normal height allows more flex at the ball joint. V8 or else ... |

Yeah, similar to the lowers, it’s not easy to get the faces of the bush and bracket perfectly parallel. If the bush is even slightly tilted, it won’t go in. Before you get it any closer, put some silicone grease on the insides of the bracket and the end faces of the metal bush, to at least help align the holes later. Good luck!! |

Good job. I think this is a job thats creeping up on me in the near future. Knowing my luck, I'll probably find it a pain like you did. V8 or else ... |

Well done! Knuckle slipping off the jack sounds a bit dodgy, but it’s a forceful operation!

Looks a strong tool. I have a multiple set of splitting tools bought from eBay in a big blue box. I had to buy something butch to get the bottom swivel joint out on a Freelander 2. In the end, I had to take the whole thing out, and get a Club Hammer and big drift to thwack it out in daylight. The arm had been bent in an accident, and straightened in the past, and the ball joint was bent. It just shows that one never knows what the last member of the bodge it and scarper family has done before you got it. I have my L322 to do on front links sometime, so useful knowledge, thanks. |
