D3Jon many thanks, that's good to know.

I reckon I'll just leave it alone now and keep an eye on it.

If the failed sensor doesn't affect DPF regen, mpg or any other "processes" then would you have any idea what its function is? ..... beyond simply a temp sensor?

Thank you to everyone here on this thread, your help is most appreciated Thumbs Up
Cheers

To line the pockets of impoverished main dealers? or possibly to keep the "technicians" entertained as they must get bored having nothing to do all day due to the magnificent reliability of the brand?

That's a fair question, and yes it must perform some function, manufacturers don't add parts just for fun! Very Happy

I'm not exactly sure what the ECU does with that sensor's measured temperature values, though. I just know the TDV8 engine seem unaffected by that error code and many people just live with it, due to the limited access issues (manifold heat shield) on the L322 installation and the risk of snapping the sensor off. Certainly, it's not a significant enough error to bring up the Engine Management warning light on the dash.

I do seem to remember from another discussion on this topic, that the ECU calculates an interpreted value if that sensor isn't providing an 'expected' value, or is giving a short to earth fault. But can't say that with total certainty, as I can't find that information any more.

As others have said, that fault code should not affect DPF regen's occurring.

Many thanks Jon Thumbs Up

I had been told if the fault code was present then a regen would be impossible ..... and the consequences of that etc etc. Rolling Eyes

I took the vehicle out yesterday and forced a regen .... it worked perfectly.

In conclusion, the wisdom of this group is far superior to that of many Indy garages

Cheers All, really appreciate the help.
