Tailgate spoiler adjustment.

I have noticed That the corners of my tailgate spoiler we’re rubbing on the C pillar covers.....

So it’s out with the 🔧 and see if I can figure out how to adjust them

It turns out it’s dead easy. much more so than on the 322. Infact LR have built in an adjustment mechanism for us to have a fiddle. Here’s How.

Pull out the retaining plug in the hinge cover.

Remove the hinge cover.

Using a 13mm socket slacken off the 13mm retaining nuts. But don’t remove them. There is no need, just wind them out a few turns to the end of the bolt.

Using an E7 reverse torx socket wind the inner bolt either in or out depending on whether you want to raise or lower the spoiler.

Close lid and check and redo a bit more if needed.

Tighten everything up and put it back together. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

That would have been useful.....😂

Took about 10 mins was about to take it off then spotted the ends of the bolts were splines. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Great thread, thanks Very Happy

Re-aligned mine this afternoon, then spent hours polishing out the scratches on the C trim Neutral

Thanks northernmonkeyjones !!!
Now I know more than my official RR garage.
...already hate thinking about the polishing work.

How nice to have this forum! How stupid to need a forum for a car of that value...

Hello
So, I tried to do this today. I didn't manage to get it right. When I do the nut up, It seems to go back to the original level. No matter what, I seem to do the inner screw.

Advice? SDV8 AB MY 2020

@Luxmoggy:
These 2 pics might help how to move the “hole in a hole” DOWN, to get the tailgate further UP:
(Left, then Right) I messed around for ages, eventually needed a helper to stop it moving back as I re-tightened the bolts.

You'll probably notice if you look closer the spoiler is fine..... It's the whole tailgate that has dropped.

Plenty of vids on how to adjust. Current

Exactly! that was my issue, hence mentioning the hole positions. The plastic spoiler is light, and doesn’t normally get out of position, but the tailgate is heavy, and drops over time, it’s very common on the L405. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

@CTC:
Yes, I also adjusted mine 3 years ago and it too is still fine, perhaps they were delivered that way?
It seems commonly reported here and elsewhere, maybe the bolts were under tightened on the assembly line, or they just got it wrong? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

5 year check and it’s still ok.👌

Can’t believe I’ve had this car 5 years. I think that’s probably getting on for the longest tenure. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'm pretty sure they just didn't torque the nuts up tight enough at build, it's common accross at least 3 land rover platforms that ive had

My old L405 was bad when i got it...it was my first job to adjust it and it lasted the 5 years I had it.

The Mrs Evoque I have noticed getting worse over the last 4 years but not causing any issues or touching where it shouldn't so not touched it.

My SVR is out slightly but I think someones also bodged it and adjusted the spoiler to make it less noticeable. Current
