Dent removal and chip repair

Anyone had any good experiences with paintless dent removal/chip repairs? I am looking to have my front bumper repaired as it has a dent just above the foglight. There's also a load of stone chips to the front bonnet edge and a few all over the car.
I've never used ChipsAway or the like- always been a bit dubious. The alternative is a respray, which I don't want to do. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I've used the local Chipsaway guy up here in Glasgow a couple of times for the wife and daughters car's and can fully recommend them .

How the franchise guy is down your way on detail I wouldn't know , reckon he should be okay as their work depends on referrals by word of mouth .......

Plus he sprayed my wing mirrors , side vents , bonnet cover , grill , and decal letters , and they all turned out A1........

Chipsaway charges almost as much as respray, silver is a very difficult colour to match, better to do it properly(respray)

If it was a major job i was needing done , yes it would have been put into a paintshop to get done , BUT because it was only the wing mirror casing's and side vents and a couple of other stupid things thats why i got it done thru Chipsaway , and regarding colour matching even a time served paint sprayer could not tell the difference ............. 30 years exp ....

Plus it was not cheap ........

Noddy, your bonnet chips can be improved upon but cannot be made invisible by touching in.Your bumper, however sounds like a very straight forward job to get an undetectable repair. The advice above that silver smart repairs look poor and cant be blended ect. is just plain wrong. With modern water based paints silver, in my experience, is no more difficult than than any other colours. The hardest part from your point of view is finding a good quality company to do the work as your repairs for a decent company are "bread and butter". Cheers, Simon.

Simon

I use SMART repair guys all the time however, for info Silver Waterbased paint makes it harder than the old types given I run a fleet of cars of about 1200 units and I'm a trained paint tech I might just be right on this one.

Smart repairs look great when they are first completed (as you said if you find a good guy not a two week I've done the course one) however the repair will bloom over time so if you are looking for longevity then a proper repair is the only way. A large area such as a bumper needs a clean enviroment not a tent and heat ray.

If you know of such a company that can match silver get them to contact me as if I can save on a full paint I will however each company that has stated they can will not warrant their repairs and some have been big names.

Smart repairs are great for Trims & CMR repairs but anything that requires more than a TiF&P should at the moment be completed properly

Never used Smart repairs etc, but I've been given the impression that for a short term "tart up" to flog a car, they're great, but for long term, quality repairs, there is no substitute for doing the job properly. I floated the idea with some professional vehicle painters I know a while back and the response was pretty much the same from all.
