Very noisy steering wheel 4.2 S/C

I’ve noticed a more frequent but intermittent sound coming from my steering wheel when being moved. At times the sound is completely absent!

Video attached shows it best. Have check power steering fluid level and seems ok. Any ideas!

Update on this. The noise was present prior to major work being recently done (rear subframe off, rear brake lines done, lanoguard, transmission fluids etc.) but since this work I've noticed the steering wheel is off centre as well. I'd say about 4-5 degrees tilted RIGHT to keep the car going dead straight on level road.

The wheel has never been off as far as I know and I don't recall it being like this before the works. I went and got it centred with Hawkeye after the works and picture below is how it is now, but even after that the wheel needs to be tilted right to maintain straight drive. Not sure what to do next - was the alignment not done with the wheel central perhaps? The alignment is all green now but not perfect as you can see.

Presumably I can't (and don't want to) fix this by somehow removing the wheel and re-centering that way? Suggest another alignment?

And - any idea on the noise? Steering seems a bit heavy...

Thanks!

I took my wheel off and recentered no problem.

It helped alot having an airbag removal tool.

Sometimes when they do the alignment they fix the steering wheel in place with the engine off and when they start the engine the wheel moves in out up down to where ever the memory tells it so it ends up off centre for the alignment - hope I have explained it ok

I have a 4,2 supercharged Jaguar X350 XJR. Mine and other jags can suffer from exactly that sound. Jag issued a technical bulletin about it and there is an jaguar/Landrover additive that you can get and add to the power steering fluid.
If you search for JTB00055 on the web you will find the technical bulletin detailing the procedure/details of the additive. All the best
Chris

If I ever have to centre the steering wheel I adjust the track rod ends by doing one in one direction and the other in the opposite direction equal amounts.
Thumbs Up

How long since the power steering fluid was changed?

I wonder if it's to do with age of the fluid. I think it's 150k miles that's recommended by Land Rover.
