If you are rural and dont use a motorway much, then consider that Diesel fuel dilution will become an issue, to an extent, that you will need to change oil etc every 2 to 3k miles.

As a diesel owner I agree with Kot to some extent, it’s not so much the oil dilution as the weekly faff of having to waste £20 of fuel on the motorway just to clear the DPF. After a few oil samples, my dilution is only about 1% per 2500-3000m of round-town driving, then due to low mileage it’s time for a 6-month oil & filter change anyway. I’d probably go for a 3.0 petrol hybrid next time if I had the money TBH. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that? |

I had an SDV6 3.0 ltr Discovery on a 15 plate. Best Land Rover I’ve ever owned and the most reliable. Regret selling it to this day.
