United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Tonga Green

I budgeted under 5K. Well under if using parts from breakers.

When I looked, the parts worked out roughly to be:

Doors - £150-£250 ea
Front Wing - £100-£200
Rear Wing - Fill & paint - £200
Misc Trim - £500
Painting one side of the car - £500

Easily under £2500 - but then there was the damaged suspension & steering which could have been:
Diff - £750
Misc Components - £500
Hub - £500
Air Spring - £300

These numbers really did start to mount up. That's when I decided to back off...

I hope David managed to get it for a LOT less than 10K. I would expect to get it for around 6-7K When Ispoke to the seller he was adament he wanted 10K for it. You can pick a cheap SC up for around 13-15K these days if you're not too fussed about the condition. Or a tidy one 15-18...

Isn't it just better to get a straight car for 15-19k.

Where's the fun in that!?

I understand where you are coming from, but in terms of security and assurity surely he is better off going with a car that hasn't been crash damaged and isn't going to end up costing more than a straight car would.

I've been involved in a lot of projects, from properties to cars to businesses and there are always unexpected costs.

So in reality, what will this car cost to put right?

Probably £2.5k. Nothing wrong with diff, a pillar etc, it's a decent car, good history, one owner. We all know any FullFat bought second hand not from a Franchise dealer can cost big money, so I've chosen to buy cheap and put it right, knowing pretty much what I'm in for.

Let's wait and see, I may of course be wrong, but I hope not! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Well looks like Dan was right about the airbag! One of the rears gone, however despite this on the whole it's looking OK. Nothing to threaten the budget yet! Bodyshop guy said no real problems, needs passenger airbag and curtain airbag though.

Funnily enough, Craig who picked it up for me, (Cam Tech from this forum), used my former S/C to tow it, he's done a fantastic job facelifting it, it's looking like a £100k car. Combination of Overfinch and Exterior Design Pack, plus lots of extra Piano Black interior trim.

I'll post some pictures later.

Just want a time machine now to whizz me forward to when my car is ready! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
