Just had the windscreen replaced in my 2011 4.4 and now the auto wipers dont work its more of an intermittent wipe thats unaffected by conditions.

any experience of this or suggestions before i call the replacement screen company 1972 Series 3 full of character

I had this. They either have not put the sensor on properly or the windscreen thickness is wrong. Check your headlight sensor is working as they are the same unit.
They replaced mine and it was still erratic and then stopped working. I actually prefer the manual set to speed wipe as I always found the auto wipers a bit of a pain! So I have left it. The auto lights work fine.

I suspect it’s aftermarket non Pilkington screens

Mine did the same but got progresively erratic to the point where they were next to useless.

I have the lights on all the time anyway so I just popped the auto wipers fuse and it defaults back to variable intermittant plus flick which is great, predictable and reliable, no issues at all since I did that.

No plan to go back to auto wipers, they're just rubbish and unpredicatble. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

I had to do a sensor recalibrate when my screen was replaced. Mine's a 2003 model so may be different. I used Faultmate to do the recalibrate, Ron B. VK2OTC

Had a look with the GAP iid but couldnt see a recalibration for the sensor, also noticed the auto lights flicking on and off a few times, windscreen company coming back to have a look, gave the impression its not the first time theyve had the issue 1972 Series 3 full of character

Now had the sensor replaced still not working, national windscreens are saying the sensor needs coding to the car? Anyone experienced this?
Local Main dealer quoted £216 for a re calibration?

I had the same after National Windscreens. I was actually quite pleased because auto lights still work and I always found the rain sensor was all over the place.
Much better with old fashioned intermittent wipe.

I’ve been going through all of this recently with autoglass after they fitted a shatterpruffe (or whatever it is) screen at the end of September. As far as I’m aware you can’t recalibrate the sensor.

Autoglass fitted a new sensor which made no difference. In the end they wanted to confirm there was nothing more deeply wrong within the car so tested the system by taking the sensor off the windscreen and then checking things worked as they should by spaying directly onto the sensor and covering it to make it think it was dark. When it all worked as it should, they conceded that it was the screen and I’m now waiting for a OEM screen to come from the dealer. Apparently they order from the dealer as that way they can get a single screen rather than having to buy a batch from pilkington direct.

I think I’ll end up with the same result, one technician proved the sensor worked as you describe above, another then came and said 100% the sensor is knackered 🤦🏻‍♂️ fitted a new sensor and swears it needs recalibration, booked into the local Indy on Wednesday with a caveat that a pilkington screen will be fitted if it doesn’t fix it
