Coolant in Oil after Oil cooler replacement and EGR Rebuild

Hi All
I'm in a bit of desperate need of help. Having replaced the oil cooler and rebuilt the EGR unit on my 4.4TDV8 I now have coolant in the oil. The coolant doesn't seem to circulate through the engine anymore and I've topped up the coolant multiple times. The temperature gauge in the vehicle shows normal operating but I also have no hot air in the cabin. It appears there is a significant and uncontrolled contamination of coolant in the oil. Does anyone have any idea what i might have done wrong?

Many thanks

Edward

Not hot air in the cabin is usually the valve on the RH inner wing. Plenty of info on it here.

Does the header tank still have residual oil in it from before the oil cooler replacement? If so, replace it (about £50 and under an hour DIY). 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green

Many thanks for the advice. In the end it was me having a moment. When I removed the old cooler some coolant went into the sump. I've since drained the oil and refilled, including topping up the coolant. Now it all appears ok with hot air in the cabin too. What a mission.I have a tiny seep of coolant from one of the thermostat hoses but that is a job for another day after todays panic.

Awesome news, congrats on the positive outcome.

Out of interest would you say replacing the oil cooler is a straightforward job for a non mechanic as its something I would like to do myself as preventative measure. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Santorini black ivory leather

I've recently done it, and the thermostat housing.

Knowing what I know now, it could be done in a day with all the parts to hand. I would recommend replacing coolant hoses while you have the access, especially the EGR one on the left of the cooler. See my RR thread for more info. Also there are a few YouTube videos which can assist.

Where I messed up was breaking the connector to the fuel pressure sensor. Don't do that. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green
