Red light not flashing on key

My main key started to only operate the central locking intermittently. interestingly after manually unlocking car and running the engine for a while it work again for a few hours. I changed the battery for a new Duracell and now it wont operate the central locking at all. it works fine manually. The spare key also works perfectly. I have noticed the red key fob light does not flash.
Do I need a new PCB in the key?
