3.6 vs 4.4 boot mechanism

hi guys, just bought a 3.6 TDV8 and am noticing a new differences versus the 4.4 - one of them being that the boot mechanism on the one I bought only seems to be released via the key, it doesn't seem to want to work manually.

Is this an easy fix/ normal, any help appreciated.

You mean you can only open the top tailgate with the button on the keyfob and not the button on the dash? Or the outside button above the number plate? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I can only get the boot to open with the key
