L322 3.6 TDV8 - Engine System Fault

Morning people,

Got a challenge sith one of my L322’s.

Long story short. Used the car to pull a trailer with a Porsche. Approx weight were 2000kg pluss the Full Fat it self. Hit the highway and did a gentle push on the throttle to accelerate. When I hitted the throttle the car died and gave me a bong «Engine System Fault». Pulled my GAP IID tool and no faults are stored. Towed the car out of the highway and into a local neiberhood and forgot obout the car until a parking guy called me and gave a 14 days notice to remove the car.

Anyways. Tried to start it yesterday but no show.

What if done so far;

- Gave it 40 litre of diesel (in case it went out).
- Bled the fuel on the Schrader valve (good amount of fuel coming out there guess the LPFP is good).
- Cranks very well (new battery).
- No faults are logged on the engine except for the one under.
- Took the top IC hoses of and gave it a squirt of start gas (know thats not the way to do it). It fires up and dies - as I think its a diesel related problem.
- Live values gives me 40000kpa ish on the fuel rail.
- EGR is function



Got no clues were to start and need to move the ASAP. Got a trailer but winching these full fats is a nightmare and will probaly take me 2-3 hours to fix.

Any pointers would be HIGHLY appreciated.

These are the only faults I have. And the crash-sensor error is also on my other TDV8 and that runs like a champ.

Crash sensor active? - this sounds like a sytem to stop the engine running after a collision so there must be some way to reset it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

That was my thought as well. The battery were not tightend sonit could move a bit inside the battery-room (?). All tho I can read the same fault on my other L322 TDV8 which runs great.

Red somewhere that the cransh sensor can cut out the diesel.

Did some more checks this morning. It throws B10A2-36 fault which is related to the «crash inertia faul» according to TOPix. All tho the problem is that its pretty much impossible to find the switch. If the car has one. TOPix says its between the ECM and RCM which makes sence, but where the heck is the switch?

Ok. Got some more time to do re-search on the car in question.

Our L322’s do not have a Interia switch all tho TOPix mention this switch in their docs. BCM throws a crash signal to ECM which cuts the fuel / injectors etc. This crash signal is not possible to delete with GAP IID Tool. Fault comes back instantly. Some docs states it can be reset by cycling ignition, any clue which cycle is used for this matter?

Im thinking water ingress to the wiring of the crash sensors in the sills. Does anyone know where the wiring goes next to the seats? Any contacts to look after?

And, BCM states to be above the transmission / around the gear selector. Popped the plastic around the gear selector but cant find it. Any tips on location of contacts and BCM is highly appreciated.

Have done some more reaserch on this matter.

The cars suffers with water ingress. My guess is the sun roof, but now as I know I can tackle this once I got motivation for it. Anyways, there is a huge wire loom with multiple soldering points in the sill on my passenger side (LHD).

Replaced 10 soldering points in the sill on RHD sill and removed ALOT of water in the driver side. Also here I replaced some soldering points. The car now does not throw the crash signal. But a new code is prohibiting it from starting;

Another update to this matter.

All my injectors on bank 2 (LHS) is checked OK. And all are within OHM´s value according to the book.
Will now focus on the wiring over to the ECU to check for any faults in the wiring. The car it self is still "dismantled" and Gear lever etc are not connected. Don't think that should cause any directly fault upon the injectors (??) - according to the wiring it shouldn't... But who knows, its a LR where they say there is a interia switch but according to the wire diagram there isn't.

BCM gatters signal from every crash sensor to either throw a "crash signal" output where the engine ECU gets it as a "crash signal" input and prohibited. As stated above my car had water ingress and that's the reason for the signal. If someone finds the fault code mentioned in the first post; Rip out both seats, open the plastic and go thru the wiring. You will be surprised what you find....

Another update.

This water ingress have burnt my engine ECU throwing faults it should not.

New ECU, key barrel, and immobilizer is on its way from UK Smile

Maybe its worthwile to look at this post from 2022.

It is about a fault code U2023, which comes with huge intervals ( 18 months for me)

I will be checking their suggestions on the wire harness chafing at injectir nr 7...
