United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Santorini Black

The parts are about £150 and the job takes about 10-hours, so it is about a £750 job from an indie at the cheapest end, and more like £1500 from a dealer.

The front subframe needs to be lowered to acess the sump and this can cause problems with the job. I have heard of people needing to do the job more than once as the new one can fail too hence why I went for the £5 guitar string option which seems to do the same job.

have you had look on auto trader for comparison? the link below is '14 reg, 145k miles, asking £10k so you'd probably get it for £9500? its also an SE although haven't looked at the exact spec etc..... but lets imagine that other than they oil sensor thing they are the same condition etc...... that make your car asking £9k, selling for £8.5k at most.... so on the face of it yours looks expensive I looked at mot history looks like its always having issues with tyres so maybe tracking is never done...?

this and another car seem to the be the cheapest but there are plenty of cars similar miles and price to yours but being sold from dealers etc..... my advice would be either fix and have another go at £11k, or dont fix and stick it up for £9500, or keep. Thumbs Up

£10k for a 2014 does seem a really good price andyleeds. I wonder why it is so much cheaper than others?

I've just looked on AutoTrader and mine is the cheapest 4.4 2013 car except for one that seems to need a new engine. There's even a CatN listed for £12995. Ebay does have some V6 ones cheaper though.

Tracking is all fine and the tyre referred to on the MOT is 4.2mm/4.5mm/4.2mm but it was on the front and so is down to 2.1mm right at the very edge, so probably does need changing fairly soon. I could have changed it with the spare.

I would say this, but I guess that what mine has going for it is the excellent condition and the Apple CarPlay, though I agree I might have to take less than £12k. I really don't see the point in anyone spending the money on getting the oil level sensor changed, me or a new owner, when the dipstick works and has been an acceptable method of checking oil levels for many years on other cars. Current:

the guy might just want to sell it I suppose? yours is the next cheapest at £12500, there's then 3 or 4 for £500 more but on the face of it none of them need a £1k fix......

ive owned alot of cars but I wouldn't buy one knowingly that had a fault reading the oil level etc as no oil means no engine if you dont keep an eye on it....... if I were buying a car like that it would have be a right bargain ie £2k or £3k under what else I could get out there......

good luck with whatever you do

The oil level can be read using a GAP IID tool which is a lot cheaper the replacing the oil sensor. That's what I do on mine backed up by one of Zebedee's dip sticks. 2013 Vogue SE SDV8
