Is that 30 miles of range for the p440e, which would be horrendously inefficient, or the p400, which would be surprisingly good?

Realistically, it's more like 20 miles range for the P400e... |

The power is relatively adequate but bear in mind that as soon as you floor it, the combustion engine will kick in. If you drive like grandpa you will remain fully electric and the quietness is awesome! I have adapted my city driving and it has become quite pleasant and serene. And I only fill the tank when getting out from the town for a longer trip... It really comes down to where you live and what you do with the car. In the city it makes sense. |

I can imagine a 2L struggling in that situation but I guess on journeys more than 10 miles they are meant to be driven in hybrid mode from the get go.

I wouldn't say that a 400HP/640Nm & 0-60 mph in 6.4 sec (137 mph max speed) car is underpowered... Ours doesn't feel that way and we've travelled all over Europe, summer, winter, hills, mountain roads, etc. There's always a reserve from the 105kW electric motor to help when accelerating, even if the battery is empty. The only problem, if you want, is the way it behaves while cornering at speed, but that's a SUV problem, not a PHEV one... |

23-24 mpg on normal roads, 21 on highways. |

I’m trying to get my head round this - to get the 400bhp and the 6.4 0-60, does this need both battery and petrol motors to achieve this ? 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17 |

That’s not ideal but I guess over a year of motoring the use of full electric would improve it. Do you have a rough idea what your mpg over a year has been? With the amount of travel you do would a diesel have not made more sense for you? 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8. |

It does. When you look at the battery capacity, theres total and usable, it will always keep some in reserve so when you’re out of electric range you still get the benefit (torque more than hp) from the electric motor. That won’t last forever of course, but I assume it keeps getting topped up ie when you’re not using full petrol engine power, lifting off etc. As a comparison, my car does 36mpg on long runs when you start with zero electric range. Ignore mpg overall in a hybrid as it’s a nonsense because it doesn’t take the amount of changing you do, best to look at pence per mile. Mine is averaging c17p vs 23-24p for the SDV8 plus I can claim more for business miles, it’s saving me £150-£200 a month. That’s just a nice bonus though, I didn’t buy it for economy.
