maybe its calculated that range from previous runs, did you just have a hard motorway journey? .. ... - .- -.

Nah not particularly. It’s being driven the same way as all my previous cars with a mix or town and motorway driving at cruising speed. Definitely not being driven hard at all. Even the SVR I used to have would warn you at around 50 miles or range which is why I’m so confused. I’d understand if I was ragging it but I’m not. |

I guess the way to test Stan's thought is to go into the Remote app, click on the most recent journey and see what MPG it says you were getting.

Curious to know what the miles left will read tomorrow after the FF has had a nightful rest. ... - .- -.

I had to go out now and couldn’t be bothered to risk it. It dropped down to 15 miles remaining just inside the red zone with the light on. Filled it up to the first click and it took just over 77 litres.

Fuel level is mostly measured by a „swimming“ piece on an level arm.

Hmm that’s interesting, It might be caused by that then. For reference I filled it up to the top a couple of days ago and it showed a range of 567 miles remaining. The needle didn’t budge on the fuel gauge until it was showing 452 miles remaining. Literally didn’t move at all for the entire time. I think actually drove around 80 miles in real terms before it moved. Seems like it likes to overestimate how much is in there. I’m gonna try run it low again and see what happens. Didn’t get a chance to do it this week. |

Yeah you’re right Bill really don’t wanna run it too low in case it actually runs out. That fact yours shows 50 miles remaining when the light comes on confirms my suspicions. Out of interest what does your car’s long term average mpg say? I’m gonna test it again a few more times to see if it keeps doing it and if does I’ll take it in to get it looked at. Still confused on whether it’s the computer messing up or the physical float (or whatever it is) in the tank. |

I’m not sure what the long term average is for sure, but guess it’s around 33.

So by chance I literally ran the car down to empty tonight. Fuel light came on at 28 miles again and it literally stayed at the top of the red until about 15 miles where it moved to the middle, it then stayed there until about 3 miles remaining and then out of nowhere it dropped like a rock all the way down to the bottom of the red zone. Got to the garage with it showing 1 mile left and filled it up to the first click.

Also noticed that since I ran it low yesterday it’s now messed the app up somehow. It’s show 100% full on the app but still shows the fuel low warning as well.

Yes sameish thing. The low fuel seems very over cautious !. Maybe this is a good thing !. Sometimes it comes off and them goes off again |
