Stereo Having a Nervous Breakdown

I was listening to music through the aux input while driving yesterday when I noticed the stereo didn't respond to volume changes either on the steering wheel or the main on/off switch. I then noticed it kept playing music even when I turned the stereo off!

Shortly after that the stereo then reacted to the previous volume changes I made and then switched itself off. It was like all the inputs on the dash/wheel controls had a 17-second delay before they took effect.

I then noticed that no other audio inputs worked and the audio screen was stuck on external input selection and it claimed the stereo was actually off when it was on. Then I noticed it showed that my phone was not connected via bluetooth when my phone said it still was and that I had lost the blind sport warnings in the door mirrors.

Once home I parked up when the Camera System Fault appeared. I turned off the ignition and the infotainment screen stayed on when it should normally then turn off. The screen only switched off when the rest of the electronics in the car shut down after 5 minutes. Even then the LED on the stereo on/off switch was flashing which indicates an error.

I started the car again and all was good. Anyone had similar issues? I've found a couple of threads with similar symptoms but not really the same and no causes described.

The card had a new battery and alternator about 6 weeks ago and all has been good until now. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Everything there is as dry as a bone. There is not even a sign of previous ingress or corrosion. I guess the plastic sheet fix they introduced in that area years ago must be working.

I should be receiving my Gap 3 IID tool next week - something I should have bought years ago - so I'll see if the problem left any codes. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Happened again today. Just pulled over and shut the engine off and waited for the nav screen to shut down. All OK again after restart. No obvious fault codes. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Check the battery terminal connections and make sure they are tight.

Did this happen before the new battery? ... - .- -.

No, I've had the car 7 years now and I never had the issue before. Now twice since the new alternator and battery, the first time about 7 weeks after fitting and the second time about 7 weeks after the first. Will check the terminals.

I noticed they have installed a battery with 850 CCA whereas the workshop manual prescribes 950 CCA. Could that have anything to do with it? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
