Lowering the subframe slightly - propshaft off ?

So looking at the logistics of doing the ACE pipework. Haylands took the full subframe off ( here ) whilst in this video, the subframe was partly lowered and hanging from the unwound bolts.

This latter method i think suit me better in terms of trying to fit the pipes, but if I was doing that, would I have remove the propshaft ? Or would there be enough play if I undid the centre support bearing ?

Just trying to plan it all out in advance at the moment. V8 or else ...

I would think there is enough room for the prop to drop some amount, if it's enough to change the pipes, that's a suck it and see job... Thumbs Up Pete

If you can't remove it from the rear diff, remove it from the transfer box end and drop the shaft with the subframe/diff assy Thumbs Up

So, I’ve reached the point of : you can undo the subframe bolts and re thread them back in a few turns, and drop the subframe to hang on them without having to remove the prop. You do need to undo the middle bearing support though

My clean and tidy garage setup … no lifts here!

Tomorrows job is to see if this enough space to feed the pipes through:

If it isn't then take out the nearside bolts and drop it on a jack a bit more that side, just be careful and don't catch anything... Thumbs Up Pete

Just to feed back, this worked and worked very well. New rear ace pipes installed and rear coolant cross over coolant metal pipes now replaced with a single run of hose.

When it’s all done, I’ll do a different thread with some observations of doing the ace pipe job on the ground without a lift. V8 or else ...

Did my rear ACE pipes With the fuel tank in position and by only dropping the rear subframe a couple of inches, leaving it hanging on a few threads like you did. I did this with the car on a ramp though!

Absolutely no way I could figure out or handle doing it with the car on the floor. Well done! Shocked
