Just got rid of a BMW PHEV, the second year insurance had doubled. They suggested that it was the cost of repairing cars with batteries was so prohibitive they were often writing them off if the batteries were damaged, thus the increase in premiums.

Same here, was quoted over 5 grand by a couple of companies, seems some don’t want to take on RRs.

I tried Saga, they were a nightmare, 1 hour on the phone explaining the inside of everything and they then said they had to pass to underwriters before they could quote.! That was three days ago and not heard back, so just because I am over fifty doesn't mean to say I have weeks to waste hanging around waiting for a quote!!

PHEV is definitely an issue. I have been experimenting with several price comparison sites and the hybrid is double the insurance of the diesel! |

Across the LR forums, insurance has become a popular thread with especially those in the South East getting eye watering renewals. Personally I'm with Admiral and I asked if there was any discount and mine got reduced from the renewal email. So we're staying as it was untouchable. visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk |

Thanks I tried Admiral but stupid expensive. I then tried Hastings who wanted me to have a black box to check my driving - 13 years no claims, no claims or convictions, mid fifties, low crime postcode??
