Bosch or Varta battery?

As above, I need every 2 or 3 years a new battery, always had Varta silver 100/830
Should I buy another marque another Ah/A??
What does the wise crowd think?
Thanks in advance
enjoy summer (it's 42° here...)

I’m currently considering the battery options for my 2007 TDV8 and think I’m going to go for I1 VARTA SILVER DYNAMIC CAR BATTERY 110AH (610402092) (020). The AGM debate for the non stop - start models doesn’t seem to have a clear answer, so the Varta seems to have the power to cope.

I went with the big Exide thinking the AGM element didn't matter, but already the battery is giving me only about 10 mins of stereo after shutdown before it powers itself off. I'm not sure 020 is actually any benefit over the 019 to be honest.

I've been advised the AGM batteries extend the post shutdown useage time, but I've no experience of it myself, but when I come to renew for the winter I'll be getting an AGM type, what brand, depends on the price at the time I have to admit.

Andy,

This is why making a decision is difficult. Got both types in my Tayna basket, just waiting till payday before I make the call.

@Robert - both Varta and Bosch car batteries are made at the same manufacturing plants, simply buy the cheaper of the two Smile

Varta Black Dynamic batteries (Bosch S3 batteries) are batteries designed to operate for a period of three years. Their starting currents correspond to cars that run only on a gasoline engine. Both batteries are low cost and affordable to customers with the most limited financial capabilities, and therefore suitable for poor clients who want to have in their car exactly the battery of Varta or Bosch brand.

Varta Blue Dynamic batteries (Bosch S4 batteries) are batteries designed to operate for a period of four years. Their starting currents correspond to the gasoline engine cars with a large number of consuming devices. Batteries are designed for use in cars with prestige above the middle class, where interruptions in battery charging with a generator are simply unthinkable.

Varta Silver Dynamic batteries (Bosch S5 batteries) are batteries designed to operate for a period of five years. Their starting currents correspond to cars of both gasoline engines and mainly diesel engines with a large number of consuming devices. Batteries are designed for use in cars with a class of prestige above average, where disruptions in battery charging by the generator are simply unthinkable.

Thumbs Up Thank you Pcourtney.

Today my garage told me to buy Orion...(never heard of) but they should be far better as Varta Silver...and also German.
Looked it up and did not get any orion review. But since the christmas tree is up again (and that with 42° killer degrees out here again Wink) I will go for another Varta I think but a little higher in A and AH. Tomorrow morning early when it's stil bearable outside.

Enjoy your summer Whistle

Just replaced my incorrect battery (god only knows how the car kept going) with a shiny new Varta Silver Dynamic 95Ah 850A 019 battery. 30 minute job (4.4 TDV8), including clearing fault codes, reprogramming the BCM and grinning like a Cheshire Cat at the sound of the starter spinning away at full speed - something I’d never heard the car do before! -------------------------

I changed mine a month after I got the car for an Exide EK950 or EK960 AGM. I have had no starting issues since and I only drive mine at the weekends or when I'm doing my own work during the week. It came it quite a bit cheaper than Bosch and so far so good. The main thing was it fit! Current yokes

If required I’ve a brand new Bosch battery that is surplus to requirements. It’s the biggest one you can fit in an L322.
